Colchester: Exciting news is brewing! A new care home could soon rise where a historic factory once stood. LNT Care Developments has put forward plans to the city council for a three-storey building on Port Lane.
If all goes well, this care home will cater to the elderly, sitting on 1.5 acres of land that used to be home to a factory that operated for over 150 years. It’s a big change for the area!
The site was previously owned by MAN Energy Solutions and had plans for housing back in 2022. Just across the way, Galliard Homes is also looking to build 83 new homes. It seems like a lot is happening in Colchester!
Now, if the council gives the green light, this care home will feature 66 bedrooms, parking, and lovely landscaping. The developers are hoping to get started within two years of approval.
In their application, LNT Care Developments mentioned that this project is crucial for meeting local care and housing needs, especially for those needing dementia care. They’re all about supporting the community and boosting the local economy.
The care home will be spacious, with 3,250 square meters of room, and each bedroom will have its own en-suite. Plus, there will be 25 parking spots and a bunch of amenities like lounges, a café, a cinema room, and even a hair studio!
They believe these facilities are super important for residents who need easy access to everything for a good quality of life. Sounds like a great addition to the community!
