Solihull: The planning chairman, Bob Grinsell, is feeling pretty frustrated. Another delay has hit the decision on a home extension in Olton. The homeowner, Zeus Padam, first applied for this back in May. It’s for a single-storey rear extension and a two-storey side extension at his place on Stonor Park Road.

Before this, the application was put on hold because councillors wanted more details. At the latest meeting on January 8, Grinsell brought it up, saying he was aware it was supposed to be discussed. But, surprise, surprise, it got deferred again. He didn’t hide his disappointment, saying, “I’m not exactly happy about that.”

Neighbors have raised concerns, calling the plan “overbearing” and claiming it would overdevelop the site. However, the council’s officers believe it wouldn’t really affect anyone nearby. Ward councillor Sardul Marwa, who pushed for the application to be reviewed, is eager for a quick resolution since the property is falling apart.

At the last meeting, Coun Dave Pinwell asked about how far the extension would be from the boundary. Grinsell pointed out that they were missing some technical info. He said, “We have to make a measured decision, for or against. Currently, we can’t.”

So, the item was deferred again to get the necessary information. It’s still up in the air whether it will be on the agenda for the next meeting on February 5.
