Launceston: So, there was this Aussie pilot, right? He was just getting ready for his night shift when he started hearing some weird noises coming from the hangar. It was a bit spooky, and he thought maybe someone had left something behind.
David Phillips, who works with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, was filling out some paperwork when he heard these bumps and scratches. He figured it might be his colleague who had just left, but it was definitely unexpected.
When he went to check it out, he spotted the culprit—a brushtail possum! But that was just the beginning of the adventure. The little guy was hiding under the cockpit’s foot pedals, and David had to get creative to coax him out.

To lure the little guy out, David sliced up an apple and placed it near the stairs. It worked, but the possum was pretty comfy and didn’t want to leave. It just sat there, staring at him for ages.
Eventually, David called in an engineer to help with the situation. They managed to gently guide the possum out with a broom, but not before cleaning up the mess it left behind. Let’s just say, it was a bit of a cleanup job!
In the end, the apple was gone by morning, and David had quite the story to tell. Who knew a night shift could turn into such a wild encounter?
