Bristol: A photographer named Josh Dury, just 27 years old, managed to snap a rare comet from Severn Beach. This comet, called C/2024 G3 (ATLAS), only swings by Earth once every 160,000 years!

On January 15, he faced quite the challenge with the weather. The Mendips, Bristol, and even Wales were all clouded over. But just before the M4, he found a little break in the clouds that allowed him to get this once-in-a-lifetime shot.

He mentioned how tough it was to get the picture, but it was totally worth it. This comet is expected to be one of the brightest in 2025, and it was first spotted by the ATLAS survey in Chile back in April 2024.

At that time, it was a whopping 655 million kilometers away from us. Can you imagine? It’s amazing to think about how far away it is and that we can still see it!
