Jared Verse has been recognized as the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year, showcasing his impressive skills with the Rams this season

Los Angeles: So, you know that moment when Rams coach Sean McVay called up Jared Verse? Verse thought he was getting the boot, but surprise! He made the Pro Bowl.
Now, McVay might not be the one to tell him he’s the PFT 2024 defensive rookie of the year, but someone’s gotta break the news, right?
This first-round pick from Florida State really stepped up for the Rams after Aaron Donald. His sack numbers might not blow you away at 4.5, but he racked up 77 pressures in just 484 pass-rushing snaps. That’s pretty solid!
He also had 66 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 18 quarterback hits. Plus, he forced two fumbles and recovered two. Not too shabby!
Interestingly, this is the second year in a row a Rams player snagged this award. Last year, it was Kobie Turner who took home the title.
Verse’s teammate, Braden Fiske, also had a great season with 8.5 sacks and 44 tackles. He was in the mix for the award too.
And let’s not forget about the Eagles’ cornerbacks, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Both had solid rookie seasons, playing in all 16 games. Mitchell was a starter, and DeJean was the go-to nickel corner.
All four of these guys will be looking to build on their impressive first seasons this weekend. The Rams are set to host the Vikings, while the Eagles will take on the Packers in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
