Newcastle: A shocking incident occurred when a patient groped a doctor during a check-up for chest pain. Artur Pietka, the patient, was in a hospital cubicle when the assault happened.
As the doctor leaned in to listen to his chest, he suddenly reached around and touched her inappropriately. The court heard that he seemed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Despite the assault, the brave doctor finished her examination. However, she later reported the incident and sought support from other staff. It’s clear this experience has deeply affected her both at work and in her personal life.
Pietka, a 45-year-old Polish national, admitted to the sexual assault and was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison. Most of that time has already been served, so he’ll be out soon.
The judge pointed out that it was particularly troubling because the assault happened while the doctor was trying to help him. Pietka’s defense mentioned that he was reflecting on his actions and felt ashamed.
