A person has died after being hit by a train at Johnstone station, disrupting rail services for hours.

Johnstone: A tragic incident occurred at the train station on Monday evening. A person was hit by a train, leading to a major disruption.

Emergency services arrived around 5:30 PM after reports of a casualty on the tracks. Sadly, they found that the person had died at the scene.

All train lines between Kilwinning and Paisley Gilmour Street were closed for over two hours. ScotRail services to Glasgow Central, Ayr, Largs, and Ardrossan were canceled.

Platform 1 at Johnstone station remained closed until about 9:20 PM. British Transport Police confirmed they were called to the scene shortly after the incident.

Paramedics also responded but unfortunately pronounced the person dead. Authorities stated the incident is not suspicious, and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Ambulance Service mentioned they received the call at 5:41 PM. An ambulance and specialized teams were dispatched to assist.
