Boston: A person sadly passed away on an Air France flight from Paris to Boston. The Massachusetts State Police confirmed this to USA TODAY.
They referred to it as “an unattended death” on the flight. Someone reached out to the Crime Scene Services Section about the situation. The Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit also got involved.
Right now, police aren’t saying if the person was a passenger or part of the crew, and they haven’t shared when the death occurred.
They haven’t released the name of the individual yet, saying they’ll do that once the family has been informed.
Investigations are still ongoing, so we’ll have to wait for more details.
Interestingly, medical emergencies on flights happen more often than you might think. The CDC says they occur on about 1 in every 604 flights. Common issues include fainting and respiratory problems.
Most of the time, planes keep flying to their destinations, but in serious cases, they might divert. The death rate from these emergencies is pretty low, around 0.3%.
