Pershore: The Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre is gearing up for a fun relay swim challenge on Saturday, March 29, at the local leisure centre. The goal? To swim a total of 21 miles, which is the distance of the English Channel, right in the pool.
That’s a whopping 1,352 lengths! But don’t worry, it’s open to everyone, no matter how good you are at swimming. You can swim as many or as few lengths as you like, and every little bit counts towards the big goal.
Kim Macdonald, the volunteer coordinator, shared that they want this event to be a great way for people of all ages and abilities to come together. It’s all about having fun, meeting new folks, and raising some much-needed funds for their work supporting local volunteers.
Joining in is free, but they’re encouraging everyone to raise some money through sponsorship. All the funds will go directly to help the centre continue its important work in the community.
You can swim solo or team up with friends. Every length you swim helps the community reach that Channel swim challenge and supports the centre’s efforts.
The event runs from 4pm to 7pm at the centre on King George’s Way. If you want to sign up or need more info, just give them a call at 01386 554299 or shoot them an email at admin@pershorevolunteers.org.uk.
