Hounslow: Citizens Advice Hounslow just got a £1.625 million funding boost. This comes as more people ask for help with rising living costs.
The Hounslow Council approved this funding during a meeting. They voted to give £325,000 each year for five years. This support will help many residents in need.
Citizens Advice has been funded by the council for over 20 years. Their contract was set to end in March 2025 but has now been extended to 2030. This funding will help them provide better services and prevent homelessness.
CAH has two offices in Hounslow: one in Feltham and another in Chiswick. They also have mobile units and a phone line to reach vulnerable residents more easily.
Darlene Clement, an adviser at CAH, shared that many people are struggling to afford basic needs. She recently helped a single mother who was worried about rising rent and energy costs.
The mother was working full-time but still found it hard to make ends meet. Darlene helped her understand her rights and check for benefits she could receive.
At a recent meeting, Councillor Grewal emphasized how important this service is for residents. In the past year, CAH helped secure over £15 million for locals.
Citizens Advice Hounslow has been around since 1939, helping over 15,000 residents each year. They offer advice on debt, housing, and family issues.
Aiman Elal, the CEO, said this funding is crucial during tough times. Many residents rely on them to avoid financial instability and homelessness.
