Bridlington: A 74-year-old man was attacked while walking home. He had just picked up a prescription. Suddenly, a stranger punched him hard.

The attacker, Franklyn Hicken, 30, was trained in martial arts. He confronted the pensioner on the street. Hicken claimed the man walked into him before throwing the punch.

The blow was so strong it broke the victim’s dentures. He fell to the ground, and bystanders rushed to help him. Hicken walked away without looking back.

CCTV footage showed the shocking incident. Humberside Police arrested Hicken the same day. He claimed he acted in self-defense, but the evidence told a different story.

During the court hearing, the victim shared he still has flashbacks from the attack. It worsened his depression. Hicken’s lawyer said the attack was impulsive and not premeditated.

Judge John Thackray KC watched the CCTV and called it sickening. He noted the victim was minding his own business. Hicken was sentenced to 10 months in jail for his actions.
