London: So, there was this really sad incident in a café where an 81-year-old man named Fehim Ahmet lost his life. It happened on July 7 while he was just hanging out with friends.
Apparently, a guy visiting friends in a flat above the café climbed out a window onto the roof. He sat on a skylight, and it gave way, causing him to fall right onto Mr. Ahmet.
Fehim suffered some serious injuries and sadly passed away two weeks later in the hospital. It’s just heartbreaking.
The coroner, Mary Hassell, looked into it and found that the café owners had already complained about people climbing onto the roof. But nothing was done about it.
She pointed out that there’s no real obligation for estate agents to warn tenants about dangers like flat roofs. It’s a bit crazy, right?
In her report, she mentioned how the café owner had tried to raise the issue with the estate agency, but it seems like no one took it seriously. They didn’t even follow up with the tenants.
Now, the report has been sent to Mr. Ahmet’s son and the estate agency involved. They’ve got until February 10 next year to respond to her concerns. It’s just a tragic situation all around.
