Witham: A 40-year-old woman lost her life in a heartbreaking incident yesterday morning. Essex Police got the call around 10am about a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Powers Hall Road.

When emergency services arrived, they found a Mitsubishi Shogun on its side. Thankfully, the driver was okay, but sadly, the woman didn’t make it despite the paramedics’ best efforts.

Detectives are looking into what happened and are asking anyone who saw the crash or has dash cam footage to come forward. The driver was arrested for causing death by careless driving but has since been released while the investigation continues.

The road was closed for a while as police gathered evidence and cleared the scene, reopening just before 3pm.
