London: A pedestrian is still in a tough spot after being hit by a car in central London on Christmas Day. It’s been two days, and they’re fighting for their life.
Police got the call about a car driving the wrong way on Shaftesbury Avenue around 12:45 AM on December 25. When they arrived, they found four injured pedestrians.
One of them is in critical condition and has been taken to the hospital. It’s a serious situation, and everyone is hoping for the best.
Anthony Gilheaney, a 30-year-old, has been charged with some heavy stuff, including four counts of attempted murder. He was also driving while disqualified and had a bladed article with him.
He’s now in police custody and is set to appear in court later today. The police are taking this very seriously.
Meanwhile, Shaftesbury Avenue is still closed off from Wardour Street to Rupert Street. This is affecting popular spots like the Gielgud Theatre and Sondheim Theatre, where big shows are happening.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy mentioned that the suspect was caught quickly after the incident. The police have been working hard to gather evidence and build their case.
He added that their thoughts are with the victims, especially the one who remains in critical condition. It’s a tough time for everyone involved.
