Toronto: So, there’s this new film called *Young Werther*, and it’s got some big names like Douglas Booth and Patrick J. Adams. The movie is a modern twist on the classic novel *The Sorrows of Young Werther*. It’s set in Toronto, which is pretty cool because it really shows off the city.

In the film, Werther, played by Booth, is on a trip from Montreal to Toronto with his buddy Paul. They stop at a gelato shop, and that’s where he meets Charlotte, played by Alison Pill. The catch? Charlotte is engaged to Albert, who’s portrayed by Adams. Talk about a love triangle!

Booth’s character is a bit of a dreamer, while Albert is the responsible one. It’s interesting to see how they both try to win over Charlotte. The film dives into friendship too, especially between Werther and Paul, which adds a nice layer to the story.

Booth mentioned that playing Werther was a challenge because the character tends to ramble on. He had to get used to delivering long lines while also keeping the audience engaged. He really enjoyed the process, though, and praised the director for his guidance.

And let’s not forget about the gelato! The director, José Avelino Gilles Corbett Lourenço, loves a local spot called Bar Ape. Booth got a little carried away with the gelato during filming, eating way too much and even calling for a medic at one point because he felt so off after indulging. Sounds like a sweet problem to have!

Adams, who’s from Toronto, also appreciated how the film showcases the city. He feels it’s important for Toronto to be recognized as a storytelling hub. It’s refreshing to see the city featured authentically instead of as a stand-in for somewhere else.

*Young Werther* is now out in theaters and on digital platforms in the U.S., with a Canadian release coming soon. If you’re in the mood for a romantic comedy that celebrates friendship and the charm of Toronto, this one’s worth checking out!
