Trooon: The Glen Sannox ferry kicked off its service to Arran early this morning, around 7am. Passengers were excited to hop on board and start their journey.
Some folks even cracked open a Tennent’s, enjoying a drink despite the early hour. It’s all about celebrating the moment, right?
This ferry has had quite the journey itself. Originally set to launch in 2018, it faced a bunch of delays and issues at the Ferguson Marine shipyard.
Now, with the Glen Sannox finally in action, it marks a big step forward for the two ferries being procured.
Just the day before, they had a test run between Troon and Brodick, carrying up to 154 foot passengers. It was a good chance to see how everything worked.
Duncan Mackison, the chief executive of CalMac, shared his excitement. He mentioned that the test run was a great way to ensure everything was perfect for passengers.
Everyone at CalMac has put in a ton of effort to get the Glen Sannox ready, and they’re thrilled to have it serving the Arran route now.
