Quebec: This week, Canada is experiencing a wild temperature shift, and it’s causing some unusual weather in the east.

The Great Lakes are feeling the chill, with temperatures dropping to the season’s lowest. Meanwhile, Quebec and the East Coast are in for a snowy surprise thanks to a storm taking a strange route.

So, here’s the scoop: a strong blocking pattern over the North Atlantic is keeping a powerful storm lingering over Atlantic Canada instead of letting it move out to sea. This means Quebec and the East Coast will see a lot of snow for several days.

The storm is going to spin over Eastern Canada, which is pretty rare since storms usually move from west to east. This time, it’s going the other way!

Expect unsettled weather as the storm hangs around. Snow will be on and off throughout the week, especially in the higher areas of the Gaspé Peninsula, where they could get up to 30 cm of snow.

Commuters should be careful, as visibility might drop to almost nothing during heavy snow. It’s a good idea to take it slow and allow extra time to get where you’re going.

In Montreal, flurries are expected on Tuesday, which could make the roads slippery. So, keep an eye on travel conditions.

As the storm moves east, the Maritimes will also see snow, with Cape Breton expecting up to 40 cm. Prince Edward Island might get 5-15 cm, so be prepared for some travel delays.

In northeastern Newfoundland and Labrador, heavy snow and rain are likely, but temperatures will be surprisingly mild, even warmer than Nashville at times!

Stay tuned for updates from The Weather Network to keep track of this snowy situation in Eastern Canada.
