Adelaide: So, there’s this wild story about a couple who faked their six-year-old son’s cancer diagnosis. They even went as far as shaving his head and eyebrows to make it look real. Can you believe that?
These parents, both 44, are in serious trouble. They’ve been charged with criminal neglect and deception after allegedly scamming around $60,000. They put their kid in a wheelchair and wrapped him in bandages to pretend he was getting treatment. Just awful!
They were asking for donations through a GoFundMe page and even at their son’s school. It’s just mind-boggling how low some people can go. Acting Assistant Commissioner John DeCandia called it a “devious and cruel scheme.”
He mentioned how disgusting it is that people would exploit something as serious as cancer for their own gain. It really hits home, especially since so many families are genuinely affected by this illness.
The police got wind of this on November 26, and they’ve been working with child protection services and the school to keep the kids safe. Daily assessments are being done to ensure the boy and his sibling are okay.
It’s been confirmed that the child isn’t actually sick and that this whole charade is causing serious psychological harm. The kids have been taken away from their parents, and a relative is looking after them for now.
Mr. DeCandia said it’s going to be tough for the boy, thinking he had cancer and all. The couple has been denied bail and is set to appear in court soon. Just a heartbreaking situation all around.
