Mansfield: So, there was this dealer, Jamie Cooke, who got super nervous when he spotted the police. He was just walking around Sutton-in-Ashfield when two officers recognized him from an investigation.

When they checked it out, they found a bag stuffed with wraps of cocaine and heroin right behind some wine bottles. They arrested him and found even more drugs, a burner phone, a dealer list, scales, and cash when they searched him and his home.

Cooke ended up in Nottingham Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply. He got two years and two months in prison for his trouble.

Turns out, he had been battling a Class A drug addiction for 20 years and started dealing to pay off his debts. The cops seized 48 wraps of crack cocaine worth about £500 and 16 wraps of heroin valued at around £130.

The judge made it clear that drug crimes are serious and that Cooke’s actions were reckless. The police officer in charge of the case said they take drug-related crime very seriously because of its impact on vulnerable people.

He also mentioned how dangerous it was for Cooke to hide drugs in a public place, especially if a child had found them. Thankfully, the officers were sharp enough to catch him and get those harmful substances off the streets.
