Oxford: d’Overbroeck’s School wanted to turn 331-331A Banbury Road into a boarding house. They planned to house 16 students and two staff members.

But the Oxford City Council planning officers said no. They argued it would mean losing two residential homes.

Three local residents objected to the proposal. They were concerned about losing family homes in the area.

The Summertown and St Margaret’s Neighbourhood Forum also opposed the plan. They emphasized the need for more family homes in the city.

The planning report stated that changing the use of these homes would worsen the housing shortage. It also went against the Oxford Local Plan 2036.

In the end, the council decided that the proposal did not meet the necessary criteria. They want to protect existing residential accommodations in Oxford.
