Oswaldtwistle: Mick first reached out to East Lancashire Hospice eight years ago. He needed support after losing his mother, Eunice.
After a heart attack and surgery, his mom cared for him. Now, he attends the hospice for bereavement services and creative therapy sessions.
Each week, Mick enjoys arts and crafts at the Creative and Support Therapies (CaST) sessions. He finds joy in painting, especially with watercolors.
Mick says, “My mum was a diamond. I may never get over losing her, but the hospice has helped me.” He appreciates the support from staff and fellow patients.
He feels a constant grey cloud but finds comfort at the hospice. “When I come here, the world feels a little better,” he shares.
Mick loves the relaxing atmosphere, especially during aromatherapy massages and jacuzzi baths. “It helps my body and mind,” he explains.
Using a wheelchair, Mick relies on Patient Transport to get to the hospice. He praises the staff, saying, “They are all stars here. Everyone is so caring.”
“I wouldn’t be nervous about coming here. It’s a special place, full of happiness even on dark days,” he concludes.
