Wagner had an MRI today, and it confirmed the worst. He’s going to need surgery, which means he’ll miss the entire 2024-25 season. That’s a big blow for the team.

Before this injury, Wagner was having a great season, averaging 12.9 points per game and shooting 36% from three-point range. He was looking like a real bargain on that two-year, $22 million deal he signed last summer. But now, there’s a cloud hanging over his future, especially since he might miss training camp and part of next season while he recovers.

He’s not the only one on the injured list, either. All-Star Paolo Banchero and his brother Franz Wagner are also out with torn obliques, but they should be back this season. Without these key players, the Magic are having a tough time scoring, even though they have one of the best defenses in the league.
