Warrington: A family’s holiday took a scary turn when their 77-year-old dad, Eddie, went missing in Turkey. His daughter, Rebecca, shared how they spent three terrifying hours searching for him in Alanya.

Since Eddie has Alzheimer’s, it was especially worrying since he wasn’t familiar with the area. Rebecca reached out on social media, and soon, the local security staff were on the lookout.

Thankfully, he was found about three miles away from their resort. But when they found him, he had injuries that left the family puzzled about what had happened.

After being taken to the hospital, Eddie had surgery on his finger and spent four days recovering. Rebecca praised the hotel and hospital staff for their incredible support during this tough time.

Once back in the UK, Eddie faced more challenges. He was admitted to Warrington Hospital for delirium and insomnia, where he stayed for over five weeks before moving to Hollins Park for further care.

Rebecca was relieved when her dad was discharged just in time for Christmas. She noted how much he had improved since returning home, saying he seemed like his old self again.

She expressed deep gratitude for the care her father received, emphasizing how important it was for their family to have him back to normal after such a nightmare holiday.

Ali Kennah, the chief nurse at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals, highlighted the importance of their Forget Me Not Unit, which supports dementia patients. Hearing positive feedback from Eddie’s family was heartwarming for them.
