Orford: Matt Grainger is an artist from Orford. He discovered his love for art as a child. Now, at 46, he’s making waves in the art scene.
In 2023, he partnered with Neighbourhood Weekender to create festival posters. His designs were a hit, leading to another opportunity for the upcoming festival in May.
Matt’s inspiration came from the festival’s absence last year. He wanted to celebrate returning attendees as “returning heroes,” similar to comic book characters.
He expressed excitement about being asked to create posters again. For him, it’s a dream come true to work on something for his hometown.
So far, he has released three posters featuring bands like Stereophonics and The K’s. Each poster highlights a unique part of Warrington, like the Pink Eye building.
Matt aims to change the negative perception of Warrington. He wants to showcase the town’s vibrant festival scene and its unique landmarks.
He’s currently working on more posters, including one for local band The Bemonts. They successfully campaigned to be part of the festival lineup.
Matt has known the band’s bass player, Adam, since school. He believes it’s fantastic to feature local talent alongside bigger names.
He’s thrilled about the Stereophonics performing in Victoria Park. Promoting local bands is important to him, and he appreciates the festival’s support.
Fans can buy Matt’s posters for £15 each on his website. It’s a great way to support local art and music.
