Preston: Exciting news! The new Animate leisure complex is finally set to open in phases starting mid-February. It’s been a long wait, but it’s almost here!
This £45.8 million project will bring an eight-screen cinema, a Hollywood Bowl, and six different restaurants to the city center. You’ll find everything from Italian to Mexican food, plus a cool food hall.
There’s still one spot left for a competitive games activity, like an escape room, but the rest are ready to go. One of the restaurants is expected to open during the week of February 10th, so keep an eye out!
The cinema will follow shortly after, just in time for the school half-term holiday. Hollywood Bowl should be next, either late February or early March, with the rest of the eateries opening up after that.
Construction wrapped up at the end of November, and now the tenants are busy setting up their spaces. Mark Whittle, who manages Preston’s Business Improvement District, is really hopeful about what this will bring to the city.
He believes that Animate will draw in visitors from all over, enhancing Preston’s already great hospitality scene. There’s a lot happening in the city, with more developments on the way and exciting events planned for 2025.
The idea for this project has been around for over a decade, and it’s finally coming to life. The planning for Animate was approved in March 2022, and now we’re just weeks away from enjoying all it has to offer!
