King’s Lynn: This week, the supermarket battle continues, and folks are wondering if Lynn has the cheapest petrol in the UK. A recent report shows that the average price for unleaded is 132.47p per litre, but some places are charging as much as 143.9p. The new Sainsbury’s in Lynn is currently the cheapest at 126.9p, followed closely by Asda in South Wootton at 127.7p.

Snettisham is buzzing with news about the Watermill and Heritage Centre. The Parish Council is set to update everyone on the project they took over last year. A group of volunteers had been working to restore the mill, but things stalled when the site was sold for housing. Now, villagers are eager to see what happens next with the £1,600 left in the project’s account.

In a throwback, Knights Hill Hotel hosted a lunch back in January 1996 for the Lynn factory’s 25 Year Club. Eight new members joined, bringing the total to 46. It’s a nice little milestone, and they even have an honours board to celebrate the long-serving members.

On the roads, county councillors are pushing for improvements to the A47, the main route connecting Lynn with Norwich and Peterborough. After several tragic accidents, they’re calling on the government to make it a continuous dual carriageway. Only the Green Party voted against the motion.

In Anmer, plans for an extension to Anmer Hall have been submitted. The proposal includes a new garden room and some changes to the driveway. There’s even talk that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might be moving in, but details are hush-hush for security reasons.

Commuters are buzzing about a new half-hourly rail service between Lynn and London King’s Cross, even though ticket prices are climbing. The annual season ticket has now crossed the £5,000 mark. Regulars think the service is pretty good, but one teen had a rough ride home due to a lack of heating.

In a heartwarming story, 10-year-old Nell Briscoe from North Wootton Primary School got a letter from Prime Minister David Cameron after sending him a Christmas card. She expressed her concerns about a proposed incinerator in West Norfolk, showing that kids can really make a difference.

Meanwhile, campaigners against two wind farm projects in Bagthorpe and Stanhoe are feeling defeated. A High Court judge ruled there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn the planning consent, and the costs of continuing the fight are too high for small village groups.

Lastly, the Purfleet Trust in Lynn received a generous grant of £106,277 to help support homeless individuals. With the cold weather and rising numbers of rough sleepers, this funding will allow them to extend their hours and provide more services to those in need.
