Toronto: The Knicks pulled off a close 113-108 win against the Raptors on Monday night. It was a real nail-biter!
RJ Barrett and OG Anunoby were matched up against each other, which made it even more interesting. Anunoby kicked things off for New York, scoring the first five points, while Barrett led the Raptors with eight points in the first quarter.
Toronto had a six-point lead at one point, but the Knicks rallied with a 15-4 run to take the lead. Precious Achiuwa and Miles McBride came off the bench and really made an impact, contributing key points and rebounds.
New York started strong, pushing their lead to 11, but then their offense hit a rough patch. The Raptors took advantage and went into halftime with a slim one-point lead, thanks to Barrett’s impressive shooting.
In the third quarter, both teams were trading baskets, but the Knicks struggled defensively. Scottie Barnes hit some big threes before rolling his ankle and leaving the game.
There were a couple of injury scares for New York. Karl-Anthony Towns hobbled after stepping on a foot but returned quickly. Jalen Brunson had to leave after tripping over a fan but came back later in the fourth.
With their stars a bit banged up, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart stepped up, hitting crucial shots. But it was Brunson who shined when it mattered most, converting a four-point play and helping secure the win with some late-game scoring.
OG Anunoby was the standout player, making a huge block on Barrett in the final seconds. He finished with 14 points and was a key player in his return to Toronto.
Next up, the Knicks will host the Atlanta Hawks for their NBA Cup Quarterfinals matchup on Wednesday.
