Office worker took £20,000 in sick pay after claiming she had HIV and cancer – but got found out

Nottingham: An office worker managed to pocket over £20,000 by pretending to be seriously ill. Emma Rorison claimed she had HIV and cancer, using fake sick notes from real doctors.

She told her employer she was undergoing treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy. But when they asked to see her medical records, she refused. That raised some red flags.

Rorison, 50, had been working as a customer relations advisor since 2017. She started asking for flexible working just months after she began, claiming she was dealing with a brain tumor.

The court found out she had made up stories about medical negligence and even claimed to have liver and kidney tumors. She was eventually caught when her employer discovered the fraud and dismissed her.
