Swindon: Developer Seven Capital wants to reconfigure the Oasis leisure center. They aim to reopen it with some changes. The pool and dome will stay, but the sports hall and squash courts will go. Instead, there will be all-weather football pitches, a gym, indoor golf, and a bowling alley.

Many comments came from Swindon residents, but some were from further away. People who used to visit the center shared their thoughts. One resident from Evesham said the site is vital for Swindon and those who traveled to use it. They feel the plan is an over-development of the area.

Another comment expressed concern about reducing leisure options in Swindon. A resident from Wroughton emphasized the need for quality facilities. They believe the Oasis should attract visitors and offer more amenities, like an outdoor pool and parks.

A Rodbourne resident mentioned the existing facility is 50 years old but can still be valuable. They argued that a sports hall is more necessary than a bowling alley. Another commenter from Marlborough Road stressed that Swindon deserves a leisure center that meets its size and needs.

The feedback period for the proposals has now closed.
