Greater Manchester: A nurse is in critical condition after being stabbed at the Royal Oldham Hospital’s A&E. It happened around 11:30 PM on Saturday.

The nurse, in her 50s, was attacked with a sharp object, not a knife. Police say she’s got “life-changing” injuries and is getting treatment.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He’s still in custody, but police don’t think there’s any ongoing threat to the public.

Detectives are diving into the investigation to figure out what happened and why. They’ve assured the community that they’re safe and can ask questions if they need to.

DS Craig Roters from the local police said this is a serious situation. He expressed concern for the nurse’s family and colleagues and mentioned that there will be more police around for reassurance.
