Newcastle: Northumbria Police had a busy holiday season, taking almost 2,000 emergency calls on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. Can you believe their average response time was just two to three seconds? That’s way below the target of ten seconds!
They’ve also rolled out a direct messaging feature on social media. This makes it easier for folks to reach out for help. Pretty cool, right?
Rachel Walters, who heads communications at Northumbria Police, praised her team for their hard work. She mentioned how crucial it is to be there for people during the festive season.
She also thanked the community for their support and reminded everyone to think twice before calling 999 unless it’s really urgent. Those prank calls can waste precious time!
For anyone who can’t reach the police online, there’s always the 101 number. And remember, in an emergency, it’s always best to call 999.
