Northfleet: Wayne Traill, a 52-year-old from Stonebridge Road, has been sentenced for some truly awful crimes. He targeted three kids over more than ten years, which is just heartbreaking.
One of the victims suffered abuse back in the 1990s, while the other two were exploited later on. Traill even had the nerve to tell them no one would believe them if they spoke up.
Things finally came to light in March 2022 when the abuse was reported to the police. Traill was arrested but didn’t cooperate at all during the interviews, which is just typical.
He denied everything when the case went to court, but just before his trial at Woolwich Crown Court, he changed his tune and pleaded guilty to 21 charges. These included rape, attempted rape, and other serious offenses.
On December 19, 2024, he was sentenced to 21 years in prison. When he eventually gets out, he’ll be on an extended license for eight years and will stay on the sex offenders register forever.
Detective Constable Daniel Grant from Kent Police spoke out about the case, saying Traill caused immense damage to his victims’ lives. He described Traill as a predatory offender who used fear to get what he wanted.
It’s a relief that justice has been served, thanks to the bravery of the victims who came forward. At least now, Traill is behind bars and can’t hurt any more children.
