Belfast: Local kids who are getting support from a cancer charity had a fantastic time on a special after-hours tour at a museum. It was a lovely chance for families to unwind and enjoy some quality time together.
Titanic Belfast opened its doors just for them, letting about 80 guests from Young Lives vs Cancer explore the famous attraction. They got to see some amazing artifacts, including the iconic violin from Wallace Hartley, the ship’s musician.
Other cool items on display were the Carpathia Loving Cup and a lifejacket from the Titanic. It was a real treat for everyone involved, especially the kids and their families.
Young Lives vs Cancer is all about helping young people and their families deal with the challenges of cancer. They provide places to stay near treatment centers, which really eases the stress for families during tough times.
Thanks to Titanic Belfast, a generous donation of £40,000 was made to support the charity’s important work. It’s heartwarming to see such community spirit.
Ben Green from Young Lives vs Cancer expressed gratitude for the support, saying it really helps families feel less alone during their cancer journeys. Eimear Kearney from Titanic Belfast echoed this sentiment, highlighting the joy of creating special memories together.
The Butcher family, who attended the event, shared how much they enjoyed the experience and appreciated the support from the charity during their own challenges. It’s moments like these that really make a difference.
