Freemantle, Western Australia, Waratah Anemone, Marine Life
Laura Vickery was at Parry Beach in Western Australia when she made this surprising discovery. She described the creatures as looking like Christmas ornaments hanging out of reach of the water.
While exploring the rock pools, she snapped some photos and shared them online, hoping someone could help identify them. They were about 3 to 4 centimeters long, and she was curious to know more.
Turns out, many people recognized them as Waratah Anemones. These creatures are pretty common along the southern coast of Australia, especially around Sydney. They usually look like little blobs when contracted, which is how Laura found them.
When they open up, they reveal beautiful red tentacles that resemble a Waratah flower, which is where they get their name. It’s fascinating how they change appearance based on the tide.
People online were amazed, with some saying how beautiful they are, even when closed up. It’s just another reminder of how unique and interesting Australia’s marine life can be!
