London: Nick Clegg has decided it’s time to pass the baton at Meta. He’s stepping down as the President of Global Affairs, and Joel Kaplan will take over. Clegg joined Meta back in 2018, right when the company was dealing with the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

He mentioned that he feels this is the right moment to move on, especially with Donald Trump making a comeback in politics. Clegg shared his thoughts on Facebook, saying he hopes he helped bridge the gap between tech and politics during his time there.

He described his years at Meta as quite the adventure, noting how the company faced a lot of scrutiny and challenges as it grew. Clegg believes Kaplan is the perfect fit to lead the policy team now, given the evolving expectations around technology.

Kaplan has been with Facebook since 2011 and has a solid background in public policy. Clegg will stay on for a few months to ensure a smooth transition. Mark Zuckerberg expressed his gratitude for Clegg’s contributions and excitement for Kaplan stepping into this new role.
