San Francisco: The 49ers are feeling the sting of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2020. It’s a bummer, especially with the high hopes they had this season. But some folks on the team are trying to look on the bright side.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan mentioned he’d rather be gearing up for February games. Still, he sees a silver lining in finishing up early. He thinks it gives them more time to sort things out, which he finds pretty exciting. Nick Bosa feels the same way.

Bosa pointed out that the only time the 49ers didn’t make a deep playoff run during his time was when he was recovering from a torn ACL. He believes the extra time off will really help the team as they prepare for the 2025 season.

“It’s going to be huge,” Bosa said. “I think we kind of needed it as a team. It’s definitely a grind. It’s only one more month, but adding another month on top of what you’ve already done feels like three months, so it’s a huge, huge thing.”

He didn’t blame the long playoff runs from the last few years for this season’s struggles. After all, teams like the Chiefs and Bills have managed just fine. So, it’ll be interesting to see how the 49ers bounce back next season.
