Cleveland: So, the NFL has decided not to punish Deshaun Watson after all. This comes after he reached a settlement in Texas over some serious allegations.

Watson won’t face any more consequences from the league, which is a big deal. Remember, he was already suspended for 11 games last year and fined $5 million. But now, the NFL says there just wasn’t enough evidence to prove he violated their conduct policy.

This isn’t too surprising, though. The settlement he made included confidentiality rules, making it tough for the NFL to dig up any evidence. Basically, those involved can’t talk about it or share any related info, like texts or emails. If they do, they could get sued.

Plus, the NFL can’t force anyone to cooperate in their investigations. They can’t make the woman involved, who went by Jane Doe, share anything unless she wants to. So, without her help, the league was kind of stuck.

This decision is huge for Watson financially. His $230 million contract is mostly guaranteed, but the Browns could have cut him if he faced serious misconduct charges. Now, they don’t have that option since the league didn’t suspend him.

Watson’s season ended early due to a ruptured Achilles, and he’s expected to be back in 2025. It’s been a rough ride for him, but this news is a bit of a relief.
