Newton Mearns: David McClure works for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland. He recently won the ‘Large Builder’ category at the Pride in the Job Awards.
These awards are organized by the National House Building Council (NHBC). They celebrate site managers who build homes of outstanding quality.
David was recognized for his work at the Castle Gate development. The Pride in the Job Awards have been around for 44 years and are known as the ‘Oscars’ of house-building.
Judges look at six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise, interpretation of drawings, and health and safety.
Steve Wood, CEO of NHBC, congratulated all winners and runners-up. He said they inspire others with the quality of new homes they create.
He emphasized that while house building is a team effort, the site manager plays a crucial role in ensuring high standards.
This year, over 8,000 entrants competed in five categories, including small, medium, and large builders.
