London: Newsquest is stepping up to help young people battling cancer. They’re teaming up with Teenage Cancer Trust to make a real difference. Starting in January and running through 2025, this partnership aims to ensure no young person faces cancer alone.
With a generous £2.5 million worth of advertising across over 200 titles, both online and in print, they hope to boost public awareness and funding for the charity. This follows a successful collaboration with the NSPCC last year.
The partnership will focus on spreading the word about the signs of cancer in young people and sharing the experiences of teens dealing with cancer. There will also be fundraising events and challenges to rally support.
Newsquest staff will get involved too, volunteering and fundraising throughout the year. Henry Faure Walker, the CEO, expressed how important this initiative is, highlighting the remarkable work of Teenage Cancer Trust.
Kate Collins, the Chief Executive of Teenage Cancer Trust, shared how far they’ve come since 1990, when there was no specialized care for young cancer patients. Now, they have 28 units and a dedicated team of nurses and support coordinators.
However, she noted that awareness is still lacking. With seven young people diagnosed with cancer every day, and that number expected to rise, the need for support is critical. Teenage Cancer Trust is committed to ensuring that every young person gets the care they need.
Thanks to Newsquest’s support, they’ll be able to share more about their vital work and the stories of those they help. They’re there for anyone aged 13-24 diagnosed with cancer, providing the sensitive care that’s so crucial during these formative years.
Newsquest, with its impressive reach of over 50 million digital users monthly, is in a prime position to help spread the word. Many local titles are read by a significant portion of the community, making this partnership even more impactful.
