The guy, described as having a beard and wearing a heavy coat, was seen lurking around at about 3 AM. Local police confirmed they received reports of attempted vehicle thefts in that area.
One resident, Martin Grant, shared that his home security camera recorded the whole thing. He’s been living in Courtney Hill for three years and mentioned that break-ins have become a regular worry for the community.
Martin expressed his fears, saying that the residents are really fed up with these criminals. He worries that one day, things might escalate into a violent confrontation.
Other residents have also reached out on their community Facebook page, sharing more video evidence of the suspect. It seems like this is a growing concern for everyone in the area.
The Ballinacraig Community Association even posted about a resident who had their car checked for unlocked doors. They’re urging everyone to lock their cars and keep valuables out of sight.
Local Sinn Fein councillor Valerie Harte voiced her worries too. She pointed out that many residents are elderly or vulnerable, and incidents like this can be really frightening for them.
She encouraged neighbors to look out for each other and stay vigilant. However, she also cautioned against jumping to conclusions about who might be involved, as there have been some false accusations flying around.
