Newport: A shocking incident occurred when Nash Jeffries, 27, assaulted his girlfriend. He shoved a KFC wrap down her throat, making it hard for her to breathe.
Jeffries was jailed after pleading guilty to multiple domestic violence charges. He also assaulted another woman by punching and slapping her.
In court, prosecutor Matthew Comer shared details about Jeffries’ abusive behavior. He had a four-year relationship with the first victim, during which he strangled her and threatened her life.
Comer explained that Jeffries often accused her of cheating, even in public. He once forced her to look at the floor in a nightclub to prevent her from seeing other men.
During the KFC incident, Jeffries called her names and forced the wrap into her mouth. She struggled to breathe as he did this.
Jeffries admitted to controlling behavior, strangulation, and assault. He has a history of domestic violence with two previous convictions.
His lawyer, Cat Jones, claimed he felt remorse for his actions. She described him as a bright young man grieving his sister’s death in a car accident.
The judge, Recorder Andrew Hammond, warned Jeffries about his abusive patterns. He was sentenced to five years in prison and given two restraining orders to stay away from his victims.
After his release, Jeffries will also have to pay a surcharge.
