Newbury: An amazing collection of collectibles has been discovered in the home of a 90-year-old recluse. The auction is set for February 4 and 5 at Special Auction Services.

Experts found around 400 lots in a small bungalow in Oxfordshire while doing a probate valuation. The items include diving helmets, militaria, car mascots, and even tribal art.

One standout piece is a French Navy diving helmet from the 1920s, expected to fetch between £1,500 and £2,000. Thomas Forrester, a director at SAS, shared that this collection is one of the most surprising he’s ever encountered.

The auction will also feature a rare car mascot and a vintage US Navy diving helmet. With so many items, the rest of the collection will be sold throughout 2025.

From a Victorian Black Powder Cannon to a collection of bronze ship plaques, there’s something for every collector. The auction promises to be a thrilling event for those who appreciate unique and historical items.
