Hackney: A new roundel has just been revealed at Hackney Downs Station, and it’s pretty special. This isn’t just any roundel; it was woven by local folks during some fun workshops at Chingford Community Hub.

Back in September, Transport for London teamed up with the community to create this unique piece of art. They held two free weaving sessions where everyone got to contribute a piece. Dalia James, the artist behind it, stitched all those pieces together to make the roundel.

Now, this beautiful woven roundel hangs proudly above the stairs leading to the Weaver line platforms. It’s a nod to the rich history of weaving and textiles in the area, celebrating places like Spitalfields Market and Bethnal Green.

Trish Ashton from TfL shared how the new line names are all about honoring the communities that make London what it is. They’ve also updated thousands of signs and the Tube map to help everyone get around more easily.

So, next time you’re at Hackney Downs, take a moment to look up at this lovely roundel. It’s not just a sign; it’s a piece of the community’s heart.
