Maryport: Bartek Kanabey, the bare-knuckle boxer, has a new opponent for his upcoming fight in Newcastle. He’ll be going up against Lewis Garside next month.

Originally, Kanabey was set to face Ray Putterill from Liverpool, but things have changed. Now, Garside, who’s making his BKFC debut, will step into the ring with Kanabey, who’s known as ‘The Polish Plough’.

Kanabey took to Instagram, saying, “Little change, new opponent, same outcome!!!” He’s feeling confident about the fight.

This featherweight match is part of the BKFC Fight Night at Newcastle’s Walker Activity Dome on Saturday, February 8. It’s a big deal for Kanabey, marking his fourth fight on this major platform.

So far, he has two wins and one loss under his belt. He’s previously beaten Shaun Kissane and Bakhtyor Kudratov, but lost to Jack Culshaw in his last fight in Newcastle last June.

Kanabey trains at Just Grind in Workington and has made a name for himself in the national BKFC scene after some solid performances in local WBKB events.

He’s even a double WBKB champion, winning titles in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions in back-to-back years.

Interestingly, he’s not the only fighter from west Cumbria making waves. Agi Faulkner from Egremont recently became the European heavyweight champion after defeating Dawid Oskar in Newcastle.
