Durham: The Milburngate project has hit some serious bumps in the road. It was supposed to open by the end of 2022, but things have gone sideways. The main contractor, Tolent, went into administration, which really threw a wrench in the works.

In the latest images, you can see BrewDog and Premier Inn all fenced off. It’s a bit of a ghost town over there, with safety barriers everywhere. It’s a shame because they had big plans for this place.

They were aiming to create 153 rental apartments and some office space, plus bring in popular spots like BrewDog and Everyman Cinema. But now, it feels like a distant dream.

Despite all the signage and furniture being ready, no one has been able to enjoy a drink or catch a movie there yet. It’s just sitting there, waiting.

Developers are still saying they’re in talks to sort things out, but with these new images surfacing, it’s clear that the situation is pretty dire. A spokesperson mentioned they’re looking at options to get things moving again, but it’s hard to see when that might happen.
