Bishopstoke, Eastleigh, Green Space, Sewall Drive, Stoke Park Farm
Bishopstoke: The council has approved a new green space at Stoke Park Farm. This area will cover 20 hectares and include walking paths, seating, and picnic spots. It aims to provide a natural space for residents and visitors.
However, some residents are worried about traffic. They feel the proposed visitor parking on Sewall Drive could cause issues. Deborah Mitchell mentioned that increased visitors might lead to more traffic in their quiet neighborhood.
Brian Carroll pointed out that Sewall Drive is a private road. He noted that residents maintain it and pay for its upkeep. He questioned if they would bear the costs of extra traffic and litter from visitors.
Another resident, Jayne Holloway, expressed concern that the site could become a tourist attraction. She believes it should be preserved as a nature reserve to prevent future development.
In response, the borough council is considering alternative parking options. They are looking at using the existing cemetery extension car park, which is a short drive from the site.
