Clydach Vale: Exciting news is coming out of Rhondda! Plans are in motion for a new school dedicated to students with additional learning needs. The site is where the old council headquarters used to be, and it’s all set for a fresh start.
This new school will cater to kids aged 3 to 19 with various needs, like autism and severe learning difficulties. They’re looking to accommodate around 176 students and have a solid team of 113 staff members to support them.
The design includes outdoor play areas that are perfect for different age groups. Plus, there will be 79 parking spaces to make it easier for everyone to get there. It’s all about creating a welcoming environment for the students.
They’re also keeping the existing access routes and the lovely woodland around the site. It’s great to see that they’re considering nature while building this new facility. The plans even include sustainable drainage systems to help with water management.
The planning statement highlights that this school is a smart move for the area. Even though it’s outside the main settlement, it’s on previously developed land, which makes it a practical choice for education.
They know that many families will drive to the school, but they’re also promoting car sharing and other transport options to keep things eco-friendly. Plus, the building will follow net zero carbon principles, which is a big win for sustainability.
