Carlisle: A fresh cyber security company is gearing up to launch this month. It’s called Resilience, and it’s part of the Eco Group. Their mission? To help businesses in Cumbria and south-west Scotland tackle the rising threat of cybercrime.
Resilience is all about staying ahead of the game. They’ll focus on the tricky tactics that cybercriminals use these days. You know, falling victim to these attacks can really hit businesses hard, costing them thousands or even millions if they have to pause operations.
In some cases, it can even lead to a complete shutdown. The company is particularly keen on helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) since they often have weaker defenses against these threats.
Ryan Moffat, who leads Resilience and has a background in cyber security from Abertay University, shared some serious concerns. He mentioned that countries like Russia, China, and North Korea are looking to disrupt UK operations.
These cybercriminals are relentless, launching thousands of automated attacks on any business they can find, hoping to slip through and access sensitive data. Ryan noted that some businesses are facing up to 10,000 phishing attempts every single day.
And it’s not just the big corporations that are at risk; it’s the smaller operations that often have more vulnerabilities. These criminals want to dig deep into your business, learning about your customers and suppliers to cause maximum disruption.
It only takes one employee to click on a malicious link, and suddenly, the criminals have access to all sorts of sensitive information. Resilience aims to stop these attacks before they even start.
They’ll provide secure systems and also train employees to spot fraudulent emails, texts, and social media messages. Ryan emphasized that everyone in a company plays a role in keeping things secure.
It’s crucial for everyone to know what’s safe and what’s not. The official launch of Resilience is happening at Carlisle United Football Club on January 24 at 7 PM. Attendees will get to join in on three activities related to cyber security and see some live demonstrations.
Spaces for the launch are limited, so if you’re interested, make sure to reach out to ellie@integrityoffice.co.uk to register.
