New York: The Cavaliers really took it to the Nets on Monday night. Evan Mobley led the charge with 21 points, while Caris LeVert chipped in 19. It was a solid team effort, and they ended up winning 130-101.
Donovan Mitchell also had a nice game with 18 points and five assists. Georges Niang was a key player too, scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Cleveland is on a roll, winning six of their last seven games.
On the other side, Cameron Johnson was the standout for Brooklyn, scoring 22 points. Day’Ron Sharpe added 15 points and seven rebounds, but it wasn’t enough. The Nets have now lost three in a row and six of their last seven.
This game was special for Kenny Atkinson, who returned to Brooklyn as the head coach of the Cavaliers. He had previously coached the Nets for four seasons, so it was a big night for him.
The Cavaliers shot an impressive 53.1% from the field and had 33 assists on 43 made baskets. They’re currently leading the NBA in field-goal percentage, so it’s no surprise they played so well.
Brooklyn struggled, especially after trading point guard Dennis Schroder to Golden State. They shot just 42% from the field and had a rough first half, scoring only 40 points.
Even though the Nets started strong, scoring the first seven points, the Cavaliers quickly turned the tide. They ended the first quarter with a 32-5 run, taking a commanding 20-point lead.
Fun fact: The Cavaliers have now scored at least 130 points in seven games this season, setting a franchise record. They’ll be looking to keep that momentum going when they host Milwaukee on Friday.
As for the Nets, they’ll be back in action on Thursday against Toronto. Let’s see if they can turn things around!
