Murder Victim’s Daughter Learns of Killer’s Release While on Honeymoon
Anita Fox discovered her mother’s killer was being released as she prepared for her honeymoon, sparking outrage and concern.
Anita Fox, Michael Bowen, Sandie Bowen, Llandogo, Monmouth, Wales
Bowen was locked up for life back in 1998 for murdering Anita’s mom, Sandie. But he got paroled in 2015, only to be recalled to prison a couple of times since then. Anita found out about his release while she was at Heathrow Airport, ready to fly to Spain. Talk about a mood killer!
Sandie disappeared from their home in 1997, and her remains were only found in 2017, tied to a kitchen sink. Bowen, now 72 and going by Raymond, has never admitted to the murder. Anita’s been fighting for justice, saying he should never have been let out, especially since he was considered high risk.
The Parole Board claims they take these decisions seriously, but Anita feels like they dropped the ball. She’s been left without closure, and it’s heartbreaking. She just wanted to grow old with her mom and let her kids meet her.
Bowen has been in and out of prison since his release, and the parole board said they considered his past behavior before letting him out again. But Anita thinks he hasn’t changed at all. A retired detective even said it’s disappointing to see Bowen hasn’t learned from his time inside.
Anita’s been pushing for laws to keep killers like Bowen behind bars longer if they don’t reveal where they’ve hidden their victims. When Sandie’s remains were finally found, Anita kept her ashes close until she could scatter them in a place they both loved. It was a tough journey, but she’s trying to move forward now.
